Two Rivers Removals

Removals across Cardiff and South Wales since 1996

Everything fits. Nothing shifts.

We're the Prosser family. We survey your home for free, put a fixed price on it in writing, and pack the lorry so that nothing moves on the road.

Front room

What we move, and what it costs.

Every price here is where a local move starts. Yours is fixed, in writing, before the day.

Fragile

House moves

From £450

A one-bedroom flat; bigger homes below. A crew of two to five, and the right lorry for the job.

Packing

From £260

A one-bedroom flat, or from £520 for three bedrooms. We pack the day before, with our own boxes, paper and wardrobe boxes. Fragile-only packing from £160.

Man and van

£75

an hour

A Luton van and one of us, or £95 an hour with two. Two hours minimum; within Cardiff the clock starts when we arrive.

Office moves

From £850

Up to ten desks, moved in an evening or over a weekend so you open as usual on Monday. Crates for computers and files, and every desk labelled to its new place.

Storage

£18

a week

A sealed wooden container of 250 cubic feet, about one full room, in our dry, alarmed warehouse at the yard. We collect and deliver; no minimum term.

Long-distance moves

By survey

Anywhere in mainland Britain, and further on request. Cardiff to London for a two-bedroom flat is usually £1,400 to £1,800.

We work out every quote from four things: how much you have, how far it's going, how easy it is to get in and out, and whether we pack. If your move changes, you'll have the new price before the day, never on it.

Pianos from £180 locally. Boxes £2.40 each. Wardrobe boxes are lent free on the day, and we collect your empties free within four weeks.

How much is a home?

Every quote starts with one question: how much of a lorry will your home fill?

Whatever the size, the beds and your first-night box go on last, by the doors, so they're the first things into your new home.

Moving day, hour by hour.

A three-bedroom house within Cardiff, the way most of ours run.

Morning

7.30

The lorry leaves the yard

Loaded with blankets, covers, tools and wardrobe boxes.

8.00

We knock

Your crew leader walks round with you, and anything that isn't coming gets a red sticker. Carpets, banisters and door frames are covered before anything moves.

8.30

Loading

Furniture wrapped in blankets, mattresses in covers. The beds and your first-night box go on last, so they come off first.

12.30

A last walk round

The empty house, with you: cupboards, the loft, the shed.

Afternoon

1.00

On the road

You go ahead with the keys.

2.00

Unloading

Every box goes into the room written on it.

4.30

Beds built

And the furniture where you want it.

5.00

We leave

With a pint of milk in your fridge. The kettle is in your first-night box.

“They moved Mam's piano and forty years of her china from Penarth to Barry, and nothing so much as chipped. The beds were up before the kettle went on.”

Gareth, Barry

The Taff on one side, the Ely on the other.

Our yard on Ferry Road sits on the strip of land where Cardiff's two rivers meet the bay, which is where the name comes from. Alun and Siân Prosser started there in 1996 with one van. There are sixteen of us now, all on our own payroll, and every crew leader has been with us for at least ten years.

Megan

Runs the office and does most of the surveys.

Rhys

Leads the crews.

Alun

Still drives the long-distance runs.

We answer the phone in English or Welsh.

The moving-day checklist.

What to do, and when, from the day you book to the morning we knock.

First night

kettle, mugs, tea loo roll phone chargers a change of clothes bedding

Packed by you the day before. Loaded last, by the doors.

Six weeks before

Book your free survey and fix the date. Start giving away what you won't take: it's cheaper than moving it.

Four weeks before

Order boxes, or book our packing. Redirect your post, and tell the council, your bank, your GP and your energy suppliers.

Two weeks before

Pack the rooms you use least. Write the new room on the side of every box, not the top. If your street is tight, tell us, and we'll ask the council to keep the space for the lorry.

The week before

Run the freezer down and defrost it 48 hours before. Take down curtains and TV brackets, or ask us to. Check what time your keys will be released.

The day before

Pack your first-night box: kettle, mugs, tea, loo roll, phone chargers, a change of clothes and bedding. We load it last, by the doors.

On the day

Keep keys, documents, medicines and valuables with you. Take meter readings and photos. Walk round with your crew leader before we start.

We're in these towns every week.
